The “Best of 2015” presented by WP Racing Shocks continues with the Best Limited Late Model Drivers of the 2015 season.  Keep in mind that in the interest of how the lines between Limiteds and Late Models get more blurred every year that we only took into consideration drivers that competed in a designated Limited Late Model division.  We didn’t go searching for the rulebooks of each track, we simply went by the name of the division.

Drivers were considered for this list from the following tracks that raced a designated Limited Late Model/Limited Sportsman/Sportsman division: Ace, Bowman Gray, Caraway, Hickory, Motor Mile, Orange County, South Boston and the South East Limited Late Model Series.

Tracks with blended divisions titled “Late Model or Late Model Stock Cars” were not eligible despite how the division may be viewed by competitors or fans.

Also winning at multiple tracks and traveling will propel a driver ahead of another one who only races at one track despite the number of overall wins.  Also the level of competition at each track is graded by our staff for the purposes of this list.

Just Missing the Cut….

Taylor Brach –  3 Wins at Bowman Gray Stadium
Zach Clifton –  3 Wins at Bowman Gray Stadium & the Sportsman Division Title
Dylan Hall – SELLM Win at Myrtle Beach Speedway
Chuck Lawson –  3 Wins at Orange County Speedway
Joey Throckmorton –  2 Wins at Orange County Speedway
Trevor Ward  – 2 Wins at Ace Speedway

10. John Holleman

race22_holleman_140519He’s an extremely controversial guy at Bowman Gray Stadium but despite being a “marked man” or a “hated” driver at times John Holleman managed to pick up four victories in the always competitive Sportsman division.

9. Robbie Brewer

brewer-headerRobbie Brewer is one of the elder statesman of the Sportsman Division at Bowman Gray Stadium.  He’s always in the mix for wins and this season he racked up four wins in the always competitive division.

8. Layne Riggs

His last name might have been what got him to the race track but Layne Riggs is far from being just another kid who’s riding his more famous father’s last name.  Layne is the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Scott Riggs and he’s making his own tracks in racing.  This season he racked up five wins at Orange County Speedway on his way to the Limited Late Model track championship.

7. Dylan Ward

dylanwardDylan Ward has been one of the most dominant Limited drivers in the last couple of seasons at Ace Speedway and this year was no different.  Ward racked up seven wins on the season and won the track championship.  If East Carolina Motor Speedway’s Late Model division could be considered for this list Ward would easily climb into the top three on this list with his one victory there.

6. Travis Byrd

TravisByrdTravis Byrd picked up 11 wins in a historic 2015 season in the Limiteds at Hickory Motor Speedway.  He also won the track championship at Hickory.  11 Wins makes him the winningest driver in Limiteds in 2015 and he’d be at the top of this list if he had simply traveled to other tracks.

5. Julia Landauer

She’s the only woman on our list and she raced as if she had years of experience despite it being her first year in a Limited Late Model.  Racing for Lee Pulliam didn’t hurt her cause but she outperformed any expectations anyone could have had for her.  She racked up four wins at Motor Mile Speedway and won the Limited Late Model championship, a title that’s been extremely competitive for years.

4. Danny Willis, Jr.

Danny Willis, Jr. is no stranger to the top five on this list.  After all he’s been here year after year and even though he didn’t win the Limited Championship at South Boston he did win four races there and one at Orange County Speedway for a total of five wins on the season.

3. Trey Crews

Trey Crews was one of last years breakthrough drivers and this year he turned it up a notch.  He bested South Boston Speedway veteran Danny Willis, Jr. for the track championship and won four races on the 4/10 mile track.  He also picked up a fifth victory at Caraway Speedway.

2. Mack Little

MackLittleEvery year it seems Mack Little is in the hunt for wins and championships in the Limiteds.  This season he picked up wins at Caraway Speedway and Ace Speedway and also won the South East Limited Late Model track title despite not winning a race in the series.  He won five times at Caraway and one at Ace.

1. BooBoo Dalton

BooBooDalton_Caraway_LLMBooBoo Dalton is another driver who’s no stranger to the “Best Drivers” list in the Limited Late Models.  He’s seemingly on this list every year and this year he’s #1.  On the heels of eight victories at two different venues as well as the Caraway Speedway track championship.  Dalton scored six wins at Caraway and two at Ace Speedway during the season.
