MOBILE, AL :: Five months removed from his first career touring championship, Bubba Pollard is hoping to follow-up on his Southern Super Series triumph by chasing twin championships in 2015.

Pollard, 28, hopes to return to the SSS while also chasing a title in the newly-formed CARS Super Late Model tour.

Pollard says he is committed to the Southern Super Series for the third consecutive season but only intends to run the complete CARS gamut if the first few of races go well.

“We’re going to see how this goes first,” Pollard told Race22.com. “We’re going to run their first couple of races and hopefully run for their championship and the Southern Super Series.”

There are no date conflicts between the two schedules, convenient for southern drivers, like Pollard, who want to race on both tours.

“We’re going to try to do the best we can to support both series,” Pollard said. “I think it’s good to support some short track racing here. We’ll do the best we can. We don’t have everything lined up for sure, so we’re just going to see how it goes. We’re going to go with the flow and just try to win races.”

Several other Southern Super Series mainstays have expressed interest in CARS, including Casey Roderick and Mike Garvey. Pollard plans on traveling more than ever before this year, including a trip to California to compete in the inaugural Winter Showdown at Kern County Speedway in Bakersfield.

The race is open rules, $25,000 to win and pays well throughout the field. That combined with the challenge of a new track and traveling with his friends and family was too much to pass up.

“I feel really fortunate and lucky to have good sponsors and good parents behind me that are willing to let me go out there,” Pollard saod. “This is my fun. This is what we do as a family. It’s a lot of fun. I’m really ecited to go out to California. I’m going to everything that I can to make the most of it.”

The Georgia native has competed against west coast warriors like David Mayhew and Derek Thorn in the past and is looking to see what the region offers. For the driver who has won more Super Late Model races than anyone in the country over the past five years, Kern County represents a sterling opportunity.

“As far as adapting to the track and finding speed, our team is capable of doing that,” Pollard said. “I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about racing a lot of those guys. (Thorn) is a good race as is Mayhew and Jeremy Doss. This is good competition and we’re looking forward to going out there and hopefully bring the trophy back home.”

The Southern Super Series season starts on March 15 with the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway while the CARS Tour begins on March 28 at Southern National Motorsports Park.
