EPPING, NH :: DJ Shaw grabbed his second win in his fourth race of 2014 last Saturday night at what is quickly becoming one of his favorite tracks, Star Speedway. The third race for the Pro All Stars Series North saw the #60 Precision JLM Chevrolet keep in contention all night through the 150 lap feature event, and come on strong at the finish to take the checkered flag. This is Shaw’s second straight win at Star after winning the Granite State Pro Stocks Series event at the track last season.
“I’ve taken a liking to this place, we had a great car tonight and I can’t thank my team enough for bringing these fast racecars to the track,” Shaw jubilantly said in victory lane, “Starting up front helped us tonight and we were able to stay clean for the most part and towards the end there when it was time to go I was able to get up there and grab the lead. We had some great racing with Johnny and Cassius all night and I hope the fans enjoyed it.”
After finishing second in his heat race, Shaw started the event from the fourth position in the 24 Super Late Model field. At the start, Shaw took the third spot and rode there behind Johnny Clark and Wayne Helliwell Jr. for much of the beginning of the race. Throughout the races middle stages, Shaw and Clark put on a great show for the fans before the other Clark, Cassius, took the lead on the outside. Shaw settled into third and rode there until with 40 laps to go, Shaw started to run down Cassius for the lead. On lap 125, Shaw was able to get by Clark after the two had to slow for an incident in front of them with the back half of the field and the caution quickly followed. Shaw had to get through two more restarts, and hold off a hard charge from Richie Dearborn in the races final stages. In the final laps though, Shaw flexed his muscle and opened up his lead on his way to the victory! Even with the win, Shaw is already looking forward to the next race.
“We’ve had a great car each and every week this season so far, we have to keep it up,” Shaw explained of the season, “Our focus now goes to Chaudiere next week and make sure we have another car capable of winning there.”
With the victory, Shaw takes the points lead in the PASS North Series after three races. The tour is back in action again next weekend, as they invade the Autodrome Chaudiere located in Vallée-Jonction, Quebec, Canada. The Precision JLM Racing team is looking forward to seeing all of the Canadian racing fans this weekend, come to the track to see the PASS North Series in action on Saturday, May 17th!
