DAYTONA BEACH, FL :: Grant Enfinger scored the victory in the Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, holding off 10-time ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Champion Frank Kimmel and Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell to score the win.
“This is pretty special,” Enfinger told FOX Sports 1 in Victory Lane. “I was telling Phil here we’re overdue. It was so heartbreaking to lose some close wins. This means the world to me. I can’t thank everyone enough at Team BCR. We’ve got some great partners. It doesn’t get much better than this… I really feel strong about this team, we’re like the little engine that could. We’ve got a lot of heart.”
Frank Kimmel tried to get a run on the final lap but could not build up enough of a run to make the move. After the race, Kimmel said ARCA needed to change the restrictor-plate engine package in an interview with FOX Sports 1. Third place finisher Clay Campbell was much happier about his third place finish than Kimmel was about his second place finish.
“I couldn’t be happier with being able to drive this Federated Auto Parts car for Kenny Schrader,” Campell, who was racing for Ken Schrader, said in a post-race interview with FOX Sports 1. “This is an icon. To drive this car and finish this well, these guys put their heart and soul in this for someone like me. We avoided the skirmishes and that’s what you have to do here. I couldn’t be happier.”
Virginia’s Derrick Lancaster, a regular at Kingsport Speedway and Motor Mile Speedway, finished in 13th. Matt Kurzejewski had a top-10 run before dropping out of the race after getting caught up in an accident with Venturini Motorsports driver Leilani Munter.
Several drivers, including former South Boston competitor Jeb Burton, PASS regular Justin Allison and Baltimore’s Justin Boston, were caught up in a wreck early in the race when Buster Graham was turned on the straightaway off the front bumper of Chase Elliott. Elliott went on to finish ninth.
Following the wreck between Elliott and Graham, a physical altercation broke out between members of the two teams. Elliott said he never made contact with Graham.
The next race on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour will be on March 22nd at Mobile International Speedway in Alabama.
