HAMPTON, VA :: Dylan Smith turned heads during his on-track time at the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine on Tuesday.  Smith ran several consistent laps which commanded attention during his fifth Drive for Diversity Combine attempt.

“The car felt real consistent,” Smith said.  “We dropped off a tenth from the morning session but I think everybody did.  Consistency is key with this combine.  Up in the tower, they tell us our lap times and ask us what we think of the car.”

Smith, who says options are limited for him, stated that it takes a lot to make this program.  Smith did run a couple races at Langley Speedway in the 2013 season driving for Bobby Creech.  He is one of 20 drivers participating in Tuesday’s evaluation.

Each of the drivers, who come from a variety of different racing backgrounds, said they’ve learned a lot in the two days they’ve participated in the combine.
