BROADWAY, NC :: Jody Measamer will run the remainder of the 2013 PASS South schedule after obtaining a full sponsorship. Measmer is excited about getting back in action at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday after a third place result in his most recent PASS South appearance.
“I have obtained a full Sponsor and we are looking for big things especially after our third place finish in the last PASS race at Southern National,” Measamer said about acquiring AquaVapor Electronic Cigarettes as a sponsor for car no. 98.
The season started out rough for Measamer who suffered a blown engine at Myrtle Beach and having to go to the rear of the field twice in the first race held at Southern National Motorsports Park this season.
“I really thought we had a chance to win at Southern National,” Measamer remarked.
Measamer considers Southern National one of his better tracks and will have a chance to win there later this season when the PASS South Series heads to Southern National in November for the PASS season finale.
Before running in PASS South, Measamer competed in Late Model trucks at Caraway Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park, Tri-County Motor Speedway, Wake County Speedway and all over South Carolina. He also competed in the Late Model Stock Car ranks at Orange County Speedway where he scored his first career win… another track Measamer will have a chance to score a victory at this season when the PASS South tour rolls in to Rougemont for the Orange Blossom Special on October 19th.
“My dad used to work for other teams,” Measamer said about his racing roots. “He raced in the 50s and 60s, he worked for other people. I’ve been around it since I was born. I started driving when I was 12 in go karts, won 3 national championships, moved up to 4 cylinders at Caraway and won the title in 98. I ran the Super Trucks. Been running the Late Models the last 10-11 years and then got in the PASS last year.
“My dad worked for Bobby Labonte, Ricky Rudd, JD McDuffie and other old timers. That’s why I am like I am today. I don’t depend on anybody. I work on other peoples cars to make some race car money.”
Measmer says he loves to race in the PASS South series because of the level of competition.
“I love to race. There’s not any way I can explain when you build a car and take it out on the racetrack. Then there are the times you can beat those funded teams and run competitive. There were some good cars that went home at Hickory. It felt good to run second as long as we did. We had a shot to win that race and stuff happened between Preston and DJ. It backed us up but we had a legitimate shot to win that race. We finished fifth in that race. That felt good because there were more cars with more funding. That makes you feel good. I’d love to get the chance to run a Truck or ARCA car but I love running these PASS cars and doing what I’m doing.”
Measamer’s return to PASS competition will come on Saturday night in the Over the Mountain 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway. RACE22.com will have Live Coverage of the race.
