GRUNDY, VA :: Ryan Stiltner was hoping to start the season with a win at Kingsport Speedway but mechanical gremlins slowed his progress and kept him from winning.  Stiltner had started the race in the ninth position and felt the car was good enough to win.

Stiltner’s fast lap in qualifying was a 15.291.  He felt confident about his chances in the race.  Unfortunately, the battery died in the car and the engine laid down forcing Stiltner to pit road before the conclusion of the race.  Stiltner would return to the race and be credited with a 12th place finish at the Concrete Jungle.

“It’s not the finish we were looking for,” said Stiltner.  “The battery went down and the motor laid down.  It’s just very disappointing to have a car that fast and finish that bad.”

Stiltner’s next race will be on Friday night, March 15th in another 60 lap race at Kingsport Speedway.

“We should be able to have a strong run on Friday night,” said Stiltner.  “I know we’ve got a fast car, we just need a little luck.  I’m confident we can have a strong effort and contend for the win next time out.  These guys worked hard in the offseason and it was disappointing not to bring home a win at the opener but we’ll keep digging.”
