Carteret County Speedway will celebrate its fourth anniversary in style, with an $8,000-to-win, $650-to-start Late Model race headlining the Solid Rock Carriers Labor Day Classic.

The event has sparked interest from racers all around the Carolinas and could draw a field which could rival the Solid Rock Carriers 150 race back in July, which was the largest field of Late Models at the track to date.  The 125-lap race will pay $8,000 to the winner, $3,500 to the runner-up, $2,000 for third, $1,500 for fourth and $1,000 for fifth.

“We first opened on Labor Day Weekend back in 2015 and this is our anniversary race, so we wanted to do it up big,” Carteret County Speedway track owner Bobby Watson said.  “No other track races that Sunday so we feel like this is a perfect weekend to run a big race.  Plus, we’ve got a big Legends race as well which pays $2,500-to-win.”

Additionally, the Late Model race in the Labor Day Classic will have a $1,000 pole award.  Taking comments and suggestions from racers who competed in the Solid Rock Carriers 150 into consideration, the Solid Rock Carriers Labor Day Classic has an enhanced payout through the field.

The 125-lap race will be a four-tire race with a competition caution coming out on lap 100 which will set up a 25 lap dash to the finish.

In addition to Late Models and Legends, the event will also feature racing for Street Stocks, Mini-Stocks, Champ Karts and U-CARs.  The Legends feature will be sponsored by Riverside Dodge.

Open practice for the Solid Rock Carriers Labor Day Classic will take place on Wednesday, August 29th from 4pm-8pm, Friday, August 31st from 4pm-8pm and Saturday, September 1st from 2pm-6pm.  The Wednesday and Friday practice sessions will be $25 per car while the Saturday practice will be $25 per car plus $10 per person.

The eve of the Labor Day Classic will also feature Street Outlaws style golf cart drag racing which will pay $1,000-to-win.  Only electric carts are eligible to compete, and anyone who competes must pay a $25 entry fee.  There will also be live music on that Saturday night beginning at 8pm.

Tickets for the race will be $20 for adults while kids 10 and under get in free.

The weekend’s festivities don’t end on Sunday night, however.  On Labor Day, September 3rd, the Unprofane Riders 2nd Annual Show Us Your Metal 2018 car show will take place at Carteret County Speedway from 9am-4pm.  The show is expected to bring hundreds of vehicles and spectators and has awards in numerous categories.
