The 3rd Annual Throwback 276 presented by Baker Distributing will once again be the highlight of the season for CARS Tour teams, drivers, sponsors, and fans. Fifty plus cars are expected to be in attendance for competition, between both the Super Late Model and Late Model Stock division, with at least thirty of those participating in the event with their respective throwback schemes.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the on-track fan fest to see the cars up close, and get autographs from the CARS Tour drivers, as well the celebrity guest in attendance. Brett Bodine, Dave Marcis, Billy Hess, Ernie Irvan, Dennis Setzer, and Tommy Houston will all be a part of the festivities. A limited amount of Throwback 276 shirts, hats, and paint scheme posters will be available at the CARS Tour merchandise trailer. Teams will not only be battling it out on track, but battling their schemes. The Hoosier Tire Best Appearing Throwback award will see a team take home $500, while the best throwback dressed team will take home $350 courtesy of John West Racing Engines, and Pit Row Media will award $150, $75, and $25 to the top three best-dressed throwback fans at intermission.

Baker Distributing Continuing with History:
Baker Distributing has been a longtime supporter of the CARS Tour dating back to the 2015 season annually sponsoring the races at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The national HVAC distributor uses the event to entertain customers, employees, and suppliers within the region. With the CARS Tour not hosting a race at Myrtle Beach in 2019 the option to go back in time with the Throwback 276 event was a perfect opportunity for the company. The excitement and build up seen by Baker has those that will be in attendance looking forward to being a part of the CARS Tour biggest annual event, and the opportunity to showcase the Baker hospitality to a different market.

“Baker Distributing is proud to support our customer base, no matter the location, by utilizing Honeywell Homes to connect with comfort. The racing industry and in particular the CARS Tour for this event, allows us to show our appreciation to those customers. Just like we tell the drivers at the beginning of the race to start their engines, Baker’s HVAC contractors started their engines over a year ago and have been leading the race ever since.” Mike Plathe – VP Parts & Supplies – Baker Distributing

Brett Bodine Speaks of Behalf of 2019 CARS Tour Throwback 276 Invitees
Once again the CARS Tour will host several honored guest of the sports’ past as part of the huge Throwback 276 on track fan fest. This year’s group includes Dave Marcis, Brett Bodine, Dennis Setzer, Billy Hess, Tommy Houston, and Ernie Irvan. The Throwback 276 is not just a race, but an event at the short track level to honor those who paved the way to make the sport to what it is today. The guests invited are not always hall of fame careers, but they are all important people in the eyes of the short track industry still to this day.

“It is a true honor for me, and I think I speak for everyone this weekend, to be invited to the CARS Tour Throwback weekend at Hickory. I loved racing at Hickory back in the Busch Grand National days and this event compares a lot to those races. It is extremely important for regional touring series to not only give developing future stars a high platform to gain experience on, but to look back at all the racing and all the people that were before them to get the sport to where it is at today.” Brett Bodine – NASCAR Winston Cup Winner

Throwback 276 Becoming an Iconic Event in Just Three Years:
One would look at the CARS Tour Throwback 276 and think that the event has taken many years to build up to what it is today. The reality is that in just three short seasons the event has went from a chance to an iconic short track race for pavement racing enthusiast across the country. This year’s race will see competitors from Central Florida to Northern Virginia, and fans from as far as Washington state and Texas. The question to be answered is, how did the CARS Tour Throwback 276 grow so fast, in such a short amount of time?

“Looking back it really is hard to believe that it’s only been three years. That might because of all the work that it takes to pull it off, feels like a long time. I think without a doubt this race has put the CARS Tour on the map and is considered by the industry as our signature event. I feel like we do put a lot into this race, because it is a perfect fit, and we do it right. We let the teams change their numbers to fit the schemes so most of them are exact replicas, we bring in some throwback drivers and have them sign autographs for the fans, and then we are at the perfect place in Hickory Motor Speedway. There’s not a track in the country that has the short track history that it does. And unlike any other event, the throwback race gets everyone involved, one of the coolest things every year is seeing all the fans in their own throwback attire.” Chris Ragle – CARS Tour Series Director
