RICHMOND, VA :: 36 NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model drivers will participate in open testing at the Richmond International Raceway on Tuesday, April 16th ahead of the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown invitational race.
Among the drivers are reigning National Champion Lee Pulliam, four-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series Champion Philip Morris, three-time Langley Speedway Track Champion CE Falk who made noise at Daytona earlier this year, Nate Monteith, Tommy Lemons, Jr. and the most recent Late Model winner David Garbo, Jr., among others.
The test session will have a rain date set for April 17th. The race itself will be on Thursday, April 25th. Several NASCAR standouts are also expected to compete, including Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson. The most noticeable absence may be NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, and the man who put the race together each year, Denny Hamlin. Hamlin is continuing to recover from injuries he sustained in an accident at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California a few weeks ago.
