The CARS Late Model Stock Tour will make its maiden voyage to Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia. Saturday night’s event is stop number two on the tour’s summer run through the state of Virginia. Several local Langley stars see the tour as trial, others have stepped up to the plate and will go head to head against the best Late Model Stock teams in the region.

Brenden Queen, Terry Carroll, and Justin T. Carroll will all be ones to keep an eye on as local track challengers. A pair of former tour champions, Josh Berry and 2017 Hampton Heat winner Bobby McCarty, comes off an eventful race at Motor Mile and have broken away from the pack as this year’s championship contenders. Just seven points separate the two, with the third place man Brandon Pierce, fifteen markers behind the two.

QUOTES:
Langley Regular to CARS Tour Rookie
Cameron Bowen from nearby Chesapeake, Virginia has made his fair share of laps around the 4/10th mile Langley Speedway growing up. Bowen, a bandolero graduate, made the jump to the CARS LMSC Tour this season after competing at Langley Speedway most recently. The 2019 season for Bowen has been a challenging one to say the least, but he knows that going on tour with the best Late Model Stock drivers in the country, that is to be expected. Finally this weekend Bowen will be racing at a track he knows and has seen many times before, and because of that he feels like this weekend will be the best yet competing in front of his hometown crowd.

“It feels good to be home so the hometown fans can see how awesome of a show the CARS Tour puts on each week. Hands down it is the best competition for Late Model Stocks in the country, it’s a whole different animal and really makes you step up your program. It’s been challenging for us but going to different track and learning each week has made me a better driver. When it come to this weekend, I am really excited because it’s a place I know pretty well. Langley is a track that changes with the weather so much, and on top of that, you have to save tires. I think you could see guys who have never been there, struggle to get a handle on it because the track is so flat and nothing like any of the banked tracks we’ve raced at all year.” Cameron Bowen – #19 Cameron Chemicals Chevrolet

Queen Steps up at Home Track to Make CARS Debut
Some of the Langley regulars have chosen to not compete against the best, but some have stepped up to make their mark on the CARS Tour. Leading the local entries is Chesapeake, Virginia driver Brenden Queen who currently sits third in the Langley Speedway Late Model Stock track points. Because of Queen’s early entry of the top three drivers in the track’s championship point standings, the younger will receive three free Hoosier tires as part of the Circle Track Warehouse Hometown Hero award. While it is his debut, Queen feels that he and his team have the opportunity to impress in their first race, especially at his home track of Langley.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be making my CARS Tour debut this weekend. I’ve been wanting to do this for a few season now. When I saw it was announced over the off season that the tour was coming to my home track, I was like this is the perfect opportunity to make our debut, and then with Circle Track Warehouse Hometown Hero program the tour does to welcome local drivers with free tires, the timing is ideal for me this weekend. I think we will have a competitive car and the experience over a lot of the guys, if we can stay smart and stay out of trouble I think we should be able to leave the track with a pretty respectable finish, maybe even a chance to race for the win.” Brenden Queen – #03 Old Skool Video Games & More Chevrolet

Long time coming to Langley:
The 2019 season is the fifth anniversary season for the CARS Tour. Each year the tour has grown at a steady pace adding new track to host events across the Mid-Atlantic region. The trend continues in 2019 as the tour, for the first time in its history, will host a race at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia. The track is a place that the tour has long sought after to host an event. Finally on Saturday night it all comes together for the Who’s Your Driver 125. According to speedway General Manager, Chuck Hall, this weekend’s CARS Tour race will be well worth the wait.

“We at Larry King Law’s Speedway are excited to finally see the CARS Tour visit us, and showcase some of the best talent there is on the East Coast behind the wheel of Late Model Stock Cars.” Chuck Hall – Langley Speedway, General Manager
