New Smyna Beach, Fla. :: In the background of Daytona Speedweeks, the first NASCAR championships of 2015 will be determined after seven races and nine nights in the World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna Speedway.
The high speed half-mile is located just 10 miles south from Daytona International Speedway and has long been a popular venue for racing diehards and for short trackers to test their skills in advance of The Great American Race.
The event showcases daily features for Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Tour-Type Modifieds, Florida Modifieds and Sportsman. Both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and American Canadian Tour will also start their seasons at NSS during the course of Speedweeks. The World Series of Asphalt runs from February 13-21.
The first six Super Late Model races at the track will be 35-laps in length and featured on the undercard for six of the first seven nights, all leading up to the 100-lap Bruce Gowland Memorial on Saturday, February 21, which will serve as the main event of the night and the championship race for the division.

Several of the top Super Late Model drivers in the country, including Steve Wallace, Stephen Nasse, Ty Majeski, Spencer Davis and Bubba Pollard are expected to compete in at least one of the race and many of them will compete for the World Series championship.
Wallace became the 13th different World Series Super Late Model champion in 13 years, defeating Nasse by 13 points. He joined Dick Trickle, Mark Martin, Pete Hamilton and David Rogers as titleholders.
Now he looks to make history by becoming the only repeat champion in Super Late Model division history.
“That would be pretty cool,” Wallace said. “We’ve been working on some new cars and I’ve always enjoyed racing at New Smyrna. We’re going to have a good shot.”
Meanwhile, Davis will be the busiest driver during the World Series as he plans to compete in his Super Late Model, Pro Late Model and Tour Type Modified. He has more experience on this track than any other and it has quickly become a personal favorite.
“Racing New Smyrna is always a blast,” Davis said. “It’s a nice facility and has great employees, which makes the racing fun. Racing in the World Series is a blast since you get to race every night with people from all over the world.”
For the first time in event history, the World Series of Asphalt will also have a free online streaming broadcast powered by Speed 51 and streamed on FansChoice.tv. The entry lists, as they currently stand, can be viewed below.
