Daytona Beach, FL(February 8, 2012) – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will celebrate its 60th season in 2013 with a schedule of 15 regular season events that will follow the inaugural UNOH Battle At The Beach preseason event in February, NASCAR announced today.
In addition to the prestigious UNOH Battle At The Beach non-points race at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 18-19, other new series events on tap during the season include a new track in California and an inaugural visit to a track in the nation’s Heartland.
The regular season schedule, which includes visits to 13 venues in nine states, features an event on the new high-banked, half-mile oval at Kern County Raceway Park near Bakersfield, Calif., on Oct. 26. Also new to the series will be a first-time visit to Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., on June 9. Teams will travel to the 3/8-mile Missouri track as the series completes its Midwest swing in June.
“The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West features the stars of tomorrow competing against the cream of western stock-car racing in the best of fender-to-fender action,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president, regional and touring series. “The 2013 calendar provides an excellent mixture of local short tracks, NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide companion events, speedways, and road courses. These are all the right ingredients for another outstanding season of racing excitement in NASCAR’s stepping stone to the national series.”
The 2013 season kicks off at Phoenix International Raceway on March 2 and concludes back at the one-mile, D-shaped Arizona track on Nov. 9. The Phoenix events are two of three events in conjunction with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
Also as a companion event with a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, will be a visit to Sonoma, Calif., on June 22 for one of three road course races on the 2013 series calendar. The series will also visit Brainerd (Minn.) International Raceway on May 25 and Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah on Sept. 14.
Key components of the 2013 schedule are two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East-West combination races at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The first combination race is set for June 7, with a return engagement on the .875-mile track east of Des Moines on Aug. 2. Both events are in conjunction with NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Iowa Speedway.
The 2013 schedule also includes a return by the series to the half-mile oval at Spokane County Raceway in Airway Heights, Wash., on Aug. 24.
Additionally, visits to Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway on May 4; Colorado National Speedway in Dacono, Colo., on July 27; Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on Aug. 17; NAPA Speedway in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 28; and All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif., on Oct. 12 are featured on the slate.
