SOUTH BOSTON, VA :: Lee Pulliam keeps winning at South Boston Speedway and the bounty keeps growing.

Pulliam, the defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, and the rest of the talented NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division competitors at America’s Hometown Track will be back in action this weekend and sharing the spotlight with the touring PASS Super Late Model Series on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The exciting night of racing, which will get cranked up at 7 p.m., will feature the PASS Super Late Model Series in a 150-lap shootout, twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division and a battle for the touring Legends Cars.

When the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division drivers hit the four-tenths mile asphalt oval Saturday for the first of two 75-lap races, the competitors will be trying to snap Pulliam’s dominance in the division and they’ll be trying to collect a whopping $2,000 bounty.

Originally, South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice announced that a $500 bounty would be awarded to driver who could score a victory over Pulliam. Pulliam has won all three races since that time. Therefore, the bounty has grown to $2,000.

Rice noted earlier that Pulliam must still be competing at the end of the race for a driver to claim the bounty, and she added that Pulliam can also claim the bounty if he elects to start from the rear of the field and attempt to work his way to the front to score his 14th victory of the campaign.

Saturday will mark the second visit by the PASS Super Late Model Series to South Boston Speedway this season. The first event for the series at America’s Hometown Track was held on May 11.

Ross Kenseth, son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Matt Kenseth, claimed a victory in the 150-lap battle on May 11. He swiped the lead on lap 135 and then held off Kyle Grissom down the stretch to make it to Victory Lane. Jay Fogleman, Preston Peltier and Kyle Moon rounded out the top five finishers.

The May 11 PASS Super Late Model Series event at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval featured four different race leaders, with the lead changing hands nine times. Trevor Noles led 69 laps and Trey Mitchell rode out front for 50 laps.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday, Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will also begin at 4:30 p.m. Practice for the competing divisions will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Prior to green flag racing action at 7 p.m., a Fan Appreciation Session will be held trackside from 5:45 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. to enable fans to visit with their favorite competitors.
