MARTINSVILLE, VA – Macy Causey missed the field for the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 last year after getting taken out in a wreck in the Last Chance race.  This year, she’s hoping to put that behind her with a strong run on Saturday night.

Causey, who is the only woman to who has won a Late Model Stock Car race at South Boston Speedway, has not spent much time racing this season as she and her team have turned their attention to getting their car prepared for Martinsville.

“We spent a lot of time this year on this car, clearly not running any races, just putting it together and figuring out what it’s going to take to get up in the front,” Causey told Race22.com.  “We’ve had a pretty good car today, this morning.  It’s within me now.  We’re going to keep making adjustments.  We can only hope for qualifying that we get it up front so we don’t have to run that last chance race.”

Last year, a sub-par qualifying run forced Causey in a position to where she had to run the Last Chance Qualifier to make the field.  Early in the race, she was involved in a wreck with several other cars and ultimately sidelined when Cameron Bowen drove up over her car after the initial incident.

Causey, for her part, still harbors ill feelings about the incident last year.

“We were both in the race,” Causey said.  “If we would have held our positions, we would have both made the race but because of his ignorance, he decided to wreck both of us and then we’re both out of the race.  But it’s fine.”

Causey is unsure of her plans outside of Saturday night’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
