Hendersonville, NC(January 14, 2013) — The UARA invaded the Crowne Plaza of Hickory NC on Saturday to honor the top ten in the series 2012 point battle.  It was a night for the STARS to shine and for the UARA to show their respect to their drivers, sponsors and employees.  There was lots of prizes, trophies and cash awarded to them all to the tone of approximately $65,000.00.

Travis Swaim brought home a huge share of the prizes as the 2012 UARA Champion.  Not only did he receive a $10,000 champions check from the UARA, Swaim received a $1500 certificate from ARbodies, a champions pub table from the UARA, a giant banner from the UARA declaring him champion, $500 cash from Sunoco for the most poles of the season (8 of 16), $1000 from Arcoplate for winning the Arcoplate point challenge, $250 certificate from Tilton for leading the most laps over the season (578 of 2266), $250 from Tilton for winning the championship, 4 wheels from Circle Racing Wheels, $250 champions certificate from WP Racing Shocks, $500 from Ford Racing, $500 certificate from Tri Star Racewear, and $1000 credit from SafetyKleen plus a parts washer and products.  His car owner/dad Mike was awarded a Miller Welder and spotter Rick Viers received a headset from Racing Electronics. Charlie Long was awarded the Comp Cams Engine Builder Award along with a $500 certificate and $500 cash.

Second place finisher Dillon Bassett celebrated as the UARA Rookie of the Year and Holley Performer of the Year.  Among his prizes Bassett received a check from the UARA for $5500, a personalized pub table, a 2012 Rookie Banner, $150 certificate from Circle Racing Wheels, a carburetor from Holley, $300 certificate from Tri Star Racewear, $150 certificate from WP Racing Shocks for Rookie, $125 from WP Racing shocks for his second place finish, $150 cash

from Pigwire Racing Harness, a welder from Miller and a $1500 certificate from ARbodies.

Third place finisher Scott Turlington  received a $4000 check from the UARA, he was winner of a random draw by Five Star Race Car Bodies for a Package A body, $150 certificate from Circle Racing Wheels, $300 certificate from Tri Star Racewear and a $75 certificate from WP Racing Shocks.

Fourth place finisher Sean Rayhall received a $3000 check from the UARA, $150 certificate from Circle Racing Wheels, $500 certificate from The Joie of Seating as the Sportsman Award, $300 certificate from Tri Star Racewear.

Fifth place finisher Brandon Jones was the surprise winner of the Most Popular Driver Award.

This award was voted on via social media/internet, by his piers (UARA officials and contingency sponsors) and his fellow drivers.  Jones received a check for $2500 from the UARA, $150 certificate from Circle Racing Wheels, $300 certificate from Tri Star Racewear, $500 credit from Safety Kleen plus a parts washer and Safety Kleen product.

Sixth place finisher Devin Jones received a check for $2000 from the UARA, a Holley jet pack set, $200 certificate from Ultra Cool Brake Fans and was winner of the second random draw by Five Star Race Car Bodies for a Package A body.

Seventh place finisher Jake Morris received a check for $1750 from the UARA, a Holley jet pack set, and a complete wiring harness system from Pigwire Racing Harness.

Eighth place finisher Cory Joyce was voted as the Most Improved Driver, received a check for $1500 from the UARA, $200 certificate from Pigwire Racing Harness and a Holley jet pack set.

Ninth place finisher Ben Rhodes received a check from the UARA for 1250, a quick change rear end from Tiger, a Holley jet pack set and a $200 certificate from Ultra Cool Brake Fans.

Tenth place finisher Tim George Jr. received a $1000 check from UARA, a Holley jet pack set, 4 springs from Swift, $200 credit from Safety Kleen plus products.

With 2012 behind us the UARA moves forward to 2013.  In the coming weeks we will announce new contingency sponsors, drivers and teams.

The UARA-STARS will be in action March 9, 2013 at Southern National Speedway for the season opener.
