Concord, NC ~ 2008 UARA-STARS Melling Select Rookie of the Year runner-up crew chief, Shawn Treadaway was without a job earlier this month when his driver Brandon McReynolds replaced him, but Treadaway will remain in the UARA-STARS this season.

Treadaway has joined Grumpy’s Performance, the team that he and his driver fell short to in the UARA-STARS Melling Select Rookie of the Year standings. Grumpy’s Performance owner, Mike “Grumpy” Cheek has added Treadaway to his organization to head up a new Late Model Stock Car team that will compete as a teammate to Darrell Wallace, Jr. this season in the UARA-STARS Series. Details of the new team and driver will be released at a later date according to a press release issued by Grumpy’s Performance on January 30, 2009.

Grumpy is the crew chief for 2008 UARA-STARS Series Rookie of the Year, Darrell Wallace, Jr. and the Wallace Industrial Technology team. Grumpy is a veteran in the racing industry and has a proven track record having worked with the best of the best in his career. Grumpy added Wallace to a list of some great drivers he’s worked with including Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Cale Yarborough, Rick Crawford and Butch Miller as well as many others for a career that expands over 25 years.

The addition of Treadaway as crew chief on a new Grumpy’s Performance team will add another solid mind to the team as they expand to two cars for the 2009 season. Treadaway will officially join the Grumpy’s

Performance team on Monday, February 1st and both Grumpy and Treadaway are excited about the opportunity.

“I am excited to be able to work with Grumpy and Grumpy’s Performance for the upcoming 2009 UARA-Stars series,” said Treadaway. ” I am really looking forward to getting started with the new team and new adventures.”

“I am very proud of bringing Shawn Treadaway on board; it was something I have been leaning towards for a while,” said Grumpy. “Shawn brings a lot of ability and knowledge to our team. I am looking forward to us working together for a successful year. Shawn will be crew chief for our second team which will be a teammate for Darrell Wallace, Jr. We will announce information about our second team within the coming weeks.”
