Layne Riggs was injured in a dirt bike accident over the weekend, suffering a broken collarbone.

In a Facebook post, Riggs said he was heartbroken and detailed the extent of his injuries.  He also stated he could likely miss upcoming races, with his next race having been scheduled for April 7th when the CARS Tour made their first trip to Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“Was trying to have a little fun on my off weekend before our next upcoming races,” Riggs said in a Facebook post.  “Ended up crashing on my dirt bike and broke my right collarbone in half. Surgery is scheduled to happen tomorrow and hopeful to have a speedy recovery. Sorry to everyone that has been and would have been supporting me through the upcoming races. I’m already itching to get back in a car as soon as possible.”

Riggs has two career CARS Response Energy Late Model Stock Tour victories – one at Dominion Raceway and another at Orange County Speedway.  Both came during the 2017 season.  Riggs was 11th in points entering the next race.
