MOORESVILLE, NC :: Semora N.C. native, Lee Pulliam, scored his second NASCAR Whelen All-American title by obtaining a “perfect record” of 810 points this season, being only the fourth to do so in NASCAR Whelen Series history. Now the national champion will get a shot at the next level as he plans to make his X-1R Pro Cup Series debut on September 28th at Southern National Motorsport Park in Kenly, NC.

“It’s just an amazing accomplishment, we won a lot of races that didn’t look like we were going to win with 10 laps to go.” Pulliam said when discussing his National Championship season. “Everything just fell into place for us. We worked extremely hard. We were shooting for a perfect season from the beginning. The national championship itself is so hard to accomplish. We were able to get some crucial wins during the last month of the season and pull it off”.

Pulliam will now hope to transfer the success of his 27 wins, 40 top fives and 44 top 10s in 47 starts behind the wheel of a late model stock car, and have similar results behind the wheel of the #41 Top Gun Motorsports X-1R Pro Cup Series team formerly driven by Rusty Skewes until a recent shoulder injury sidelined Skewes for the remainder of the 2013 season.

“I can’t thank Rusty (Skewes) enough for giving me this opportunity to drive for his Top Gun Motorsports team. I know I’ve had a good season behind the wheel of the late model, but the Pro Cup car will be a different animal and the races are longer so I’m sure there will be a learning curve ,” noted Pulliam. “Hopefully I can give them a good run and be able to mix it up with guys like Clay Rogers and J.P. Morgan. The series hasn’t had quite the car count as other deals out there, but the competition is some of the best around. If you can beat some of the guys they’ve got racing in the series now you’ve done something. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The action September 28th kicks off at 6:15pm with pre-race ceremonies followed by five separate divisions competing throughout the night including Pro Cup, Allison Legacy, SNMP Limited Late Models, SNMP Chargers, and SNMP U-Cars.
