Moonshine Capital Promotions announced today that with their return to Franklin County Speedway the change to Sunday evening racing will be made for the 2016 schedule.

Moonshine Capital Promotions had tested the waters with Sunday racing back in 2014 with success and now will stage most every event in the 2016 season on Sunday evenings.

“This is an exciting time for us,” said promoter Langley Austin. “Sunday’s were scary for us in 2014 because Franklin County Speedway had raced on Saturday’s for so long that we didn’t know what the change would bring. We found out fast that Sunday was the day to race here. Our Sunday crowds and car counts topped anything we did on Saturday’s in both 2014 and 2013.”

Austin says that he knows the change is going to be one that will be debated by fans and teams alike but he thinks it’s the right decision and direction for the track.

“Some people work Saturday, some people work on Sunday. Some people go to church on Sunday, some go on Saturday. There’s not a day of the week that’s perfect but our success in 2014 showed us that the change to racing on Sunday’s was the best choice.”

“I think it’s going to be a big success. It opens the door to where no matter whether you race somewhere else on Friday or Saturday that you can come compete with us on Sunday. We virtually have no competition on Sunday’s as far as short track racing goes. No one races on Sunday’s around here even though it’s been proven successful in different places around the country.”

The season will open with a two-day show on Saturday, March 19th and Sunday March 20th with the Spring Thaw. The event will feature around 12 divisions of racing over the course of the two day event culminating with a big Late Model feature race on Sunday.

“The Spring Thaw should help get our season started right,” commented Austin. “It’s a little earlier than the track has opened in the past but it gives us ample time to prepare and teams ample time to get ready for it. The two-day show will also give us a chance to showcase some of our new divisions as we try to build for the future. It’ll be an event fans won’t want to miss.”

A detailed 2016 schedule will be released soon but we have included all of the tentative dates below. Rules for most all divisions have been posted on our website at www.FCSpeedway.com.
