KNOXVILLE, TN :: Chad Finchum finally got back to his winning ways on Friday night, snapping a winless streak dating back to June 21st.

Finchum started on the pole in the first of two Late Model features at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee on Friday night and went on to score the victory, leading wire-to-wire en route to his first victory in over a month.

“The win was great,” Finchum said.  “It was our 10th win of the season and that’s three more than we had last year. There are still more races to go so I feel like we, as a team, just keep on improving.”

Finchum said he was relieved to clear the mid-season hurdles that have made victory lane elude the Knoxville, Tennessee driver for the past month and a half.

“We were on a roll earlier this season and then we ran in to a stage where we couldn’t get a break,” Finchum stated.  “We just had no luck.  But, I feel like we just kept our heads up.  We will get a few more wins before the year’s done.”

In the second twin race, Finchum was inverted to a fourth place starting position and quickly moved up to the third position.  He went on to finish third in that race.

“We made a slight change to the car before the second race and it really helped the car,” Finchum remarked.  “I was just being nice and patient.  We got under the second place car a couple times but lapped cars were there and I had to let him go.  With about three laps to go, I stuck it in there and we finished three-wide with the second place car and a lapped car.”

Finchum’s victory was his 10th win of the season.  To date, he has 19 top-five finishes on the second.  Finchum’s next race will be on Friday night, August 8th at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee.  He will also compete at Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, Virginia on Saturday night, August 9th.
