Oak Hill, WV(July 3, 2012) — After a month out of the race car, Sammy Jasper is ready to make his return in his second NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Late Model Stock Car start of the season at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

While most people set out to head to the beach for the Independence day week to relax in the sand and catch some waves, Sammy is heading to Myrtle Beach, SC for a special 100-lap race, paying $2,000 to win. Sammy has only one career start on the .538 mile speedway, which yielded a third place finish and he’s looking forward to getting to the beach.

“I like that race track,” said Sammy. “We ran really good down there two years ago in the Limited race, I think we finished third. That track is all about saving your tires and I think since we started running the 150-lap UARA races this season we’ve learned how to do that.”

Sammy thinks that he can have a good run and isn’t going down there to finish second.

“I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t think we had a chance to win this race. Ed Berrier (crew chief) has had our cars the best they’ve ever been this season. That second place finish at Kingsport Speedway was proof that we can run with anyone. I think we’ll have a strong car and be in contention for the win or at least I expect to.”

Sammy’s past success at Myrtle Beach Speedway also helps his confidence run high into the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car race.

“Last time we came down here to Myrtle Beach to race was my first time on the track and with a little patience we had a great car at the end of the 100-lap race and finished third. With the experience I’ve gained since then, I think we can duplicate that and maybe find ourselves in victory lane, but we’ll be racing against some of the best in the business.”
