FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Winston-Salem, NC(April 12, 2012) — To say that Ronnie Bassett, Jr. and the Bassett Racing team have been on a roll to start the 2012 season in the UARA-STARS Series would be an understatement.

The team and their young driver have been among the best cars in both of the first two UARA-STARS Series races, first at Hickory Motor Speedway in March and then at Dillon Motor Speedway this past weekend. Two races into the season and Ronnie, Jr. and his team led by Chris Lawson are two for two with two trips to victory lane.

With a perfect record, Ronnie, Jr. is ready to roll into Rockingham Speedway, the largest venue on the UARA-STARS Series schedule and one of the most unique races this season and unlike most of the drivers on the entry list, Ronnie, Jr. has plenty of experience on the one-mile track. The 16 year-old racer has competed on the track four times in the last two seasons with his best finishes coming last season with a fourth place in the spring race and a seventh place finish in the fall race.

With that experience, Ronnie, Jr. is hoping he can carry momentum into Rockingham and keep his perfect status for this season, but he knows how tough it will be to have the car to win three races in a row.

“To go into Rockingham and have the best car at the end of the race would be great,” said Ronnie, Jr. “But, I know how hard these races are to win. People have said that we’re making it look easy, but that’s it, we’re making it ‘look’ easy, because this is the most competitive racing I’ve ever done. Anyone of 10-12 cars could win each race and the same guy isn’t going to win them all.”

Ronnie, Jr.’s realistic approach to the race, doesn’t neccesarily mean that he doesn’t think that he and his team will have one of the best cars at the track.

“With Chris(Lawson) and Seth(Smith) turning the wrenches on these cars for me every week, I know that we’ll have a good car, but Rockingham is an engine track as much as anything,” continued Ronnie, Jr. “We know that we have to have everything right and if you’re even a tick off, you won’t get a win in this deal. The UARA is a tough series full of great drivers and the competition this weekend will be even stiffer with a lot of guys who don’t race with us regularly coming in to compete at Rockingham.”

With the entry list for Rockingham topping the 30-car mark, the field for the UARA-STARS Series race should be among the strongest of the season. Ronnie, Jr. thinks his team is ready and is hoping for a good run on the largest track that the UARA competes on. Tickets for the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 75 for the UARA-STARS Series as well as qualifying for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series are still available via the tracks website www.rockinghamracewaypark.com.
