Client PR Report

Troy, NC(November 13, 2012) – Tommy Lemons, Jr. prepares to head to Myrtle Beach Speedway this week after a heartbreaker at Martinsville, where mechanical problems left him on the outside looking in for the main event.

Lemons enters this weekend’s Myrtle Beach 400 at Myrtle Beach Speedway with four wins on the season. Last year, he finished 23rd in the Myrtle Beach 400 after starting the race on a provisional in 40th.

“Our program wasn’t as strong last year as it is this year,” Lemons said. “We’ve got a good car. Martinsville was a setback but we’re still confident we can record a solid run at Myrtle Beach.”

Despite the setbacks at Martinsville, Lemons’ 2012 season has been a success with wins at Motor Mile Speedway and Caraway Speedway. Lemons has recorded 22 top-five finishes on the season at five different tracks, including a fourth place finish at Myrtle Beach Speedway back in September.

“We had a top-five finish earlier at Myrtle Beach Speedway and that certainly gives us an advantage entering the race,” Lemons said. “Anytime you’ve raced at a track like Myrtle Beach, where some of your competitors haven’t raced there all season, it gives you a leg up on the competition. That certainly plays to our advantage.”

Lemons has been successful this season at Caraway Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park, Myrtle Beach Speedway and South Boston Speedway.

“We’ve raced against most of these guys already this year,” Lemons said. “I think, with that said, we know what to expect from some of these guys and who we need to watch. Myrtle Beach is a different animal though. A lot of drivers you’ve never seen or heard of will show up and can certainly be wild cards one way or another, but you have several days of practice to figure the car and the other drivers out.

“It should be a lot of fun down at ‘The Beach’ this year. It will be a lot more fun if we can come away with the $10,000 check for winning.”

The 20th Annual Myrtle Beach 400 will be run on Sunday, November 18, 2012 with practice sessions beginning on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
