PENSACOLA, FL :: Bubba Pollard is hoping to finally win one race that has eluded him, the Snowball Derby.  This year, Pollard has a fast car and feels he’s got a better than ever chance to win in Super Late Model racing’s most prestigious race.

Pollard starts second in Sunday’s 300-lap Snowball Derby after running a 16.245 second lap in qualifying.  Like most that were locked in, Pollard spent much of the day Saturday focusing on the race on Sunday.  He feels the car is good but also kept weather changes in the back of his mind on Saturday.

“I think the car will be good in race trim,” Pollard explained.  “You never know with the weather change being so cold today and warm tomorrow.  I think we’ve got a good balance on the car.  We haven’t changed much on the car.  We tried a few things in practice but we ended up going back to where we were.  We’re pretty happy with the car.  It’s a long race and we’ve just got to stay out of trouble.”

For the past five years, the Snowball Derby has frustrated Pollard.  He has started on the pole in the race but has never won it.  He hopes this year is the year he can finally get the win that has eluded him.

“This is what we race for all year,” Pollard stated.  “A lot of good racecar drivers and a lot of history in this race.  Hopefully we can put our name on it one day.  I feel like we have a better car this year than what we’ve had in the past so hopefully it will stay under us for 300 laps.”

Pollard says he will run in the Southern Super Series full-time again in 2014.
