Driver PR Report

Louisvile, KY(December 18, 2012) — After his first full season of Late Model racing, 15-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, native Ben Rhodes announced today he has signed with Turner Motorsports to drive the No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Rhodes will race in select events during the 2013 season before racing the full tour in 2014. Rhodes will make his series debut with Turner Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 16th, 2013.

“I am looking forward to racing with Turner Motorsports in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East,” said Rhodes. “The entire Turner Motorsports team is well respected in NASCAR, with top-notch Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series programs. Their move into the K&N Pro Series East, with Mike Greci heading up the K&N shop, instantly puts them as one of the top teams in the series. I can’t wait to begin the next step in my racing career.”

“I am really excited to welcome Ben to the Turner Motorsports team,” said Turner Motorsports team owner, Steve Turner.  “I feel like he’s got a bright future in racing ahead of him and I’m proud to have him under the Turner Motorsports umbrella.”

Rhodes, the youngest racer in a field of veteran Late Model and NASCAR drivers, gained attention with his sixth-place finish in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway in April. He will race seven events in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2013 with a full schedule of events in 2014, all under the Turner Motorsports banner.

“The 2013 season will be a learning season for me in the series. We are only racing seven events so I can maintain my rookie status for 2014, when we will race the entire series and see if we can get the Rookie of the Year honors. I am excited for my debut with the team at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is close to my home state, and it is one of the most-exciting places to race at in the country.”

A few months ago, Rhodes announced he would race the No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevy Late Model Stock for Hawk-McCall Motorsports during the 2013 season, including the full UARA-STARS tour and various NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events. His car owner, Lee McCall, will serve as his crew chief in those events as well as in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races with Turner Motorsports.

“Lee and I have great communication and work really well together,” said Rhodes. “Having him as my crew chief for my races with Hawk-McCall Motorsports and Turner Motorsports will be very beneficial to both racing programs.”

A full 2013 schedule of events will be posted on Rhodes’ website in the coming days.
