GREENVILLE, SC :: Continuing his dominance at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Anthony Anders followed up his second place effort last weekend with a win this past weekend. Anders combated a power steering failure to score the victory, his 10th of the season and his seventh of the season at historic Greenville Pickens Speedway.
“I had to drive without power steering for 37 laps and it was a handful,” Anders said. “Then there was a green-white-checkered finish and it was really a handful. We got our Ford Crate motor back and it ran really well with that motor.”
Anders qualified third and started second after an invert. Continuing to dominate the season at Greenville, Anders is looking to score the track championship at his hometown track.
“We’re just trying to hang at Greenville and win the championship and get our name on the wall,” Anders remarked. “That’s a big accomplishment. We’ve won six races there this year. We’re just trying to hang in there and win that one.”
Anders is also looking to return to Kingsport Speedway on Friday night as he hopes to make gains on Lee Pulliam in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Championship.
“At Myrtle Beach and Greenville, we’re only getting an average of 13 and 14 cars and you’re losing points when other tracks are getting 20. So, we’re going back to Kingsport this weekend to make some gains and then Myrtle Beach, Greenville and Kingsport. We’ve only run five races at Kingsport and we’ve been good there when we have run. We’ve finished second and third at Myrtle Beach this year, outside of winning the Myrtle Beach 400 which didn’t count for points.
“We’re just trying to hang at Greenville and win the championship and get our name on the wall. That’s a big accomplishment. We’ve won six races there this year. We’re just trying to hang in there and win that one.”
Anders’ next race will be on Friday night, June 21st at Kingsport Speedway.
