HENDERSONVILLE, NC :: The United Auto Racing Association (UARA) heads down south to have an event at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon South Carolina this weekend, Saturday May 18th. The series will be accompanied by the Chargers, “Old Fashioned” Street Stock and UCAR Pure Stock

divisions at the 4/10 mile oval for a full night of action.

It has been a little over a month since the STARS were competing together in a UARA event. In April, the series had one of the most entertaining races of the season when young Brodie Kostecki became the first Australian driver to win in the UARA-STARS series. Kostecki had a very impressive run capturing his win at Rockingham. Kostecki has been strong all season during practices and qualifying but always ran into bad luck during the race. However, at the Rock the young driver practiced patience and charged for the lead late in the race. With this recent win, he and his team will carry that momentum to Dillon

looking to capture another win .

Joining the STARS this weekend will be local super star Archie Adams Jr. Adams Jr. has finished second for the past three events he has competed in at the track and is hungry for that taste of victory. Adams is the reigning Dillion Points Champion. His fellow competitor Justin Hicks who finished 3rd in the 2012 points will also be on hand to challenge Adams and the STARS. Hicks finished 3rd at the May 4th Dillon race.

Fourteen year-old Kaz Grala will be making his first UARA run. Grala is joining 2012 UARA Series Champion Travis Swaim and the Falcon Racing team for the event. Grala’s resume includes racing go-karts, legends, and he is currently racing with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series. Grala aslo ran in the Denny Hamlin event at RIR last month.

Scott Turlington and the Mid-Atlantic Racing team will also be making their season return to competition with the STARS at Dillon. This experienced Virginian driver has competed five previous seasons with the UARA. Turlington has brought home a 10th place point finish in 2008, followed by a 9th in 2009, 6th in 2010 & 2011 and 3rd in 2012. Turlington knows his way well around Dillon. He led the most laps at Dillon when the STARS were there in 2012 only to have the Bassett brothers zoom by him late in the race as Turlington’s tires gave way. Ronnie Bassett Jr, came home with the victory followed by younger brother Dillon Bassett then Turlington.

2013 Rookie Contender Garrett Jones will be heading back to familiar territory. He became one of the youngest winners at Dillon Motor Speedway last season during the track’s Independence Day celebration. Jones has done extremely well so far this season at tracks he’s never really raced on, so fans can look forward to this young driver potentially performing one of his strongest races yet.

Many STARS have already spent time on the track during this past month, perfecting their machines for this competitive night of racing. The entry list for the event includes young rookies, experienced locals, and classic veterans who are all eager to get back behind the wheel. Racing starts at 8:00pm.
