Sunday’s Jerry Moody Memorial race at Southern National Motorsports Park just got a little more lucrative.

Ford Racing has added an additional $1,000 of bonus money to the purse for the Jerry Moody Memorial 100-lap Late Model race on Sunday, May 17th.  Of the $1,000 bonus money $500 will be awarded to the winner of the race making the 100-lap race a $3,000 to win event.

“We’re excited to have Ford Racing on board this event,” said track promoter Langley Austin.  “Jerry Moody was a supporter of Ford Performance and Ford Performance wanted to be involved with this inaugural event.  $3,000 to win a 100-lap race should bring in some heavy hitters in the Late Model Stock Car world especially with no other tracks racing on Sunday.”

The remainder of the $1,000 bonus money will be added to the purse throughout the field, so that everyone gets a little piece of the pie.

“Only one driver can win the race, so we want to add a little money toward the back of the field as well.  We want everyone to go home with a little extra money and thanks to Ford Racing and Mike Delahanty we can do that.”

The Jerry Moody Memorial honors Jerry Moody, a longtime car owner who was always a Ford fan.  Moody fielded cars driven by Scott Riggs, Jamey Caudill, Clay Jones and Matt McCall, among others, at Southern National Motorsports Park. All those drivers ran Fords with Moody.

The “I Dig Pigs 100” Late Model portion of the Jerry Moody Memorial will feature an all-star cast of drivers, including four-time Southern National Motorsports Park track champion Deac McCaskill, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew-chief Matt McCall, Jerry Moody’s daughter Haley Moody (2014 Southern National Motorsports Park Limited Late Model champion) and popular local driver Ronald Renfrow, among others.

Along with the Late Model race, the Charger, Legends, U-CAR and Bandolero divisions will all be in action.
