RANDLEMAN, NC :: Ryan Wilson will be racing at Caraway for much of the 2013 racing season in his Southern Pharmacy/Randolph Bank sponsored Ryan Wilson Motorsports racecar.  Wilson will be chasing the track championship at Caraway Speedway where he won three races at in 2012.

“I expect to win the championship at Caraway,” said Wilson.  “That’s our goal.  We want to win several races and the championship.  Last year, we won three races and finished second in points.  If we don’t do better than that, it’ll be a disappointment.  I expect to win races.  If you win races and be consistent, the points will take care of themselves.”

Wilson also intends on running in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville again in October after a strong effort in the 2012 race.

“We’ve worked a lot on different things to see what should help us,” said Wilson. “At the end of the season last year, we were really strong but we had a couple bad races.  If we can run as strong as we did last year, or better, and do away with the bad races, do everything in our control to not have parts failures or get caught up in something stupid, I feel like we should be good.”

Wilson has raced at a variety of different tracks having competed in the ARCA Racing Series.  He feels that experience gives him an edge in the Late Model Stock Cars.

“I think the more tracks you run, the more advantage it is to you, the better you adapt to different situations,” Wilson explained.  “That should help us out some.  In the ARCA car, I raced at tracks as small as Toledo to tracks as big as Pocono, I’ve been on diverse tracks and I think that helps me every weekend.”

Wilson has been racing since he was five years old.  It’s something that’s always been in his blood.

“I started racing go-karts when I was five.  I raced go karts until I was old enough to move up to a car.  My dad and grandpa have always been around racing.  My uncle, Kirk Bryant, ran some Winston Cup, ARCA and Busch Series races.  His dad, Darrell Bryant, was a successful Winston Cup crew chief.  So, that’s pretty much how, between my dad, grandpa and uncle, our whole family’s always been involved in racing.”

Ryan Wilson will compete for the Caraway Speedway track championship in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model division, beginning with the season opener on Sunday, March 10th at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, NC.

Ryan Wilson is sponsored by Southern Pharmacy and Randolph Bank.
