Mentor, Ohio native, Ricky Bowers, managed to earn a top ten when the checkered flag was waved Saturday night at Greenville Pickens Speedway.

Fans present on Saturday were certainly treated to an eventful show by the South East Super Trucks (SEST). From multiple yellows due to multi-truck wrecks, to a battery exploding on track; everyone was on the edge of their seats.

The start of the race found Bowers sitting ninth out of twenty-one trucks. With the field so close and competitive, fans got to see a lot of beating and banging on track. After putting up a fight, Bowers kept his ninth spot up until the third green flag run. After a couple more restarts Bowers saw himself up to his best position of the night, sixth place.

About halfway through the race, in the jumbled field of cars, Bowers found himself racing hard, side-by-side, with a fellow regular of the series for seventh position. After a controversial call by officials both cars were sent to the back of the field. With less than half of the race remaining and less than helpful tires, Bowers was able to take the checkered in tenth place.

Although tenth wasn’t initially what Bowers was hoping for, after the crazy night he had, it wasn’t too disappointing. “Greenville-Pickens has been the toughest track for our team this season, so it felt good to be able to run up front, and ultimately get another solid top ten finish,” said Bowers. “I’d like to thank Eugene, Quincy, and the rest of the Leicht Motorsports crew for giving me a fast truck this weekend. As always, thank you to Cometic Gasket for their support.”

Ricky has certainly proven himself as a fierce competitor during his first year in the SEST Series. Recently evident by his earning of the Hard Charger award at Lonesome Pines raceway (July 23), this award is given to the driver that gains the most positions during the race.  He also leads the Rookie of the Year points with only three races left in the season. Rookie of the Year is a prestigious award fought out between the drivers who are new to the series.

Ricky is looking forward to the next race of the season on August 29 at Anderson Motor Speedway.
