Lucama, NC – Southern National Motorsports Park has unveiled its purses for the 2015 season, increasing payouts which should lead to an increase in car counts for the upcoming season which gets started on April 11th.

“I’m excited to release the purses for this season,” said track Promoter Langley Austin.  “We’ve worked hard to come up with numbers that aren’t just economical for our racers but something they can get excited about.  While a lot of race tracks are having to cut purses, we’re finding ways to make ours better for the racers.”

The Late Model division, which features a new rules package merging the Limited Late Model and Late Model Stock Car divisions, will pay $1,200 to win and $200 to start, an increase from the payouts in the Limited Late Model division last season.

“With $1,200 to win and $200 to start, our Late Model program with the blending of the Late Models and Limiteds should have a stout field of cars,” Austin commented.  “We’ve got a lot of Limited drivers looking to showcase their talent as the top division and I think it’s going to make for some exciting races with twin features nearly every race weekend.

“We’ve added to the winner’s purse from what the Limiteds were paid last year and we’ve doubled the start money using the same tire program.  So drivers and teams expenses have stayed the same and we’re paying more money, twice as much in some cases.”

The Charger division will be Southern National’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division II program.  That division will also see an increase in payouts in 2015.

“Our Charger division is one that we really want to grow this season.  With the Late Models and Limiteds being combined this becomes our NASCAR Division II and I think with the increase in purse to $500 to win will grow this division.  With our scuff tire program for the division and a stout purse I’m expecting solid car counts all season.”

The payouts in the U-CAR and Legends have also been increased which will likely increase the already strong car counts in those divisions. Southern National has showcased some of the highest car counts in the region for those two divisions in recent years.

“Southern National has had one of the best purses for U-Cars and Legends over the years and we’re definitely hoping to watch the two classes grow as the purses have grown.  The U-Car division in particular is one we hope to continue to grow and expect to see an average car count around the 20 mark.  That’s a large field of cars and some of the best racing you’ll see anywhere. And the same goes for the Legends and Bandolero divisions.”

The 2015 season will get underway on Saturday, April 11th with twin Late Model races as well as racing acion in the Charger, U-CAR, Legends and Bandolero divisions as well as an Enduro race.
