SOUTH BOSTON, VA :: Lee Pulliam extended his winning streak here at South Boston Speedway Saturday night, winning the first 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division race of what had been a scheduled twin-race event.

Rain that set in as Pulliam accepted the winner’s trophy in Victory Lane washed out the second 75-lap Late Model Stock Car race as well as the night’s scheduled 150-lap race for the stars and cars of the PASS South Super Late Model Series.

The 150-lap PASS South Super Late Model Series race has been rescheduled for Saturday night, August 31.

Pulliam’s win in the 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division race was his 14th victory of the season at South Boston Speedway. And, for the third time, Pulliam escaped a posse of bounty hunters, who, on this night, was chasing a $2,000 bounty track officials had posted for any driver that could stop Pulliam’s winning streak in the opening race.

Former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion and South Boston Speedway champion Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va. finished second, 1.334 seconds behind Pulliam, the current NASCAR Whelen All American Series national points leader.

Bobby McCarty of Summerfield, N.C. spent most of the race in second place chasing Pulliam, but was dropped to third place when Sellers got past him with two laps to go in the race.

Josh Oakley of Rougemont, N.C. finished fourth and Austin Thaxton of Cluster Springs, Va. completed the top five finishers.

Ronald Hill, Bruce Anderson, Brian Pembelton, Mike Darne and Barry Beggarly completed the top ten finishers in the 20-car starting field.

Pulliam led the entire 75-lap distance and averaged 73.845 mph in the race that was slowed by one caution period.

Racing returns to South Boston Speedway on Saturday night, August 31, when the track hosts the Charles Anderson Lawn Care presents Italian Delight Family Restaurant NASCAR Late Model 150 racing program.

The Charles Anderson Lawn Care presents Italian Delight Family Restaurant NASCAR Late Model 150 racing program will start at 7 p.m. and will be headlined by a 150-lap race for the drivers and teams in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division and Saturday night’s rained out and rescheduled 150-lap PASS South Super Late Model Series race.

The five-race card will also include a race for the Limited Sportsman Division and twin races for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.
