DRIVERS IN THE FOLD

– Registration for the 2013 season is ramping up with several drivers and teams taking advantage of receiving the cost of their driver’s license fee waived when they register their team and car number before Thursday January 31, 2013.

– New Jersey native and former NASCAR K&N East Series regular Rich Gould, now living in China Grove, NC, has purchased a Pro Cup car from series team owner Wes Gonder Racing whom he made two starts with in 2012. Gould will pilot the #58 Rich Gould Racing machine in 4-5 events in 2013 with the possibility of additional drivers filling the seat in select races.

– A pair of drivers who competed in over half the races in 2012 have each filed their registration with the series for the 2013 campaign. Youngster Gus Dean (#56) of Blufton, SC returns to the series after notching a pair of career best second place finishes on two different occasions at Dillon and Tri County a season ago. Veteran racer Bill Plemons Jr. (#15) is the first registered driver from the state of Georgia (Locust Grove, GA) for the 2013 season with other expected to be on the way as the series continues its heavily anticipated growth.

COMIN’ ON BACK

– Edlebrock, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, and Holley Performance Carburetors are all returning to the Pro Cups Series in 2013 as series contingency sponsors. In addition to the above mentioned returning contingency sponsors, Puryear Race Parts located in South Boston, VA has joined the series as a new sponsor for 2013. Puryear Race Parts will award a $50 gift certificate to the fifth place finisher in every Pro Cup event in 2013, and has plans on having a mobile parts support trailer at Pro Cup events for the upcoming season.

A WEEK AWAY

– Pro Cup Series officials are happy to say that they are about a week away from announcing the final date of the 2013 season which will take place on July 27th. Several tracks have been circulating among the Pro Cup community as hosting the event. It appears as if the event will be somewhere located in the “deep south”. Stay tune to the series website for an announcement in the coming days.

HEAD OF TECH

– Long time Pro Cup Series official Don King from nearby Hickory, NC has been chosen as the series new technical director for 2013. King returned to the series last season after spending multiple seasons with the series while under the series former title sponsor Hooters.
