DILLON, SC :: Greg Peterson might be the hottest driver outside of Lee Pulliam in the southeast right now.  Peterson had never won a feature race at Dillon Motor Speedway until July 20th, just a few weeks ago.  Now Peterson has collected three victories in dominating fashion and has proven he can run with Ryan Hall who was dominating the Late Model field earlier this year.

Peterson would start from the pole on Saturday night and never look back winning the caution free Late Model race.  Driving an old car with and old motor has proven that it’s not all about equipment, but who is behind the wheel as Peterson has shown over the last few weeks.

Ryan Hall was putting a smack down on the Late Model field for the first half of the season.  Hall rolled off five consecutive wins to open the season, but hasn’t been himself ever sense the June 29th event where he finished a disappointing ninth.  Hall finished fourth on Saturday night, but he’ll get things righted and be back to contending for wins.

Justin Hicks has had a tough season in 2013, but Saturday night had a caution flown, it was pretty clear that Hicks would have given Peterson at least a run for his money. Hicks quickly rocketed to the second position and was the fastest car on the track for much of the race, but by the time he made it to second, Peterson was already checked out on the field.  Hicks’ first win of the season isn’t far.

Jason Clark, the third place finisher has had a tough go of things over the past few weeks.  Losing his built motor in practice a few weeks ago, Clark returned on Saturday night with a Chevy crate motor and made the most of it coming home in the third position.

Dillon might have only had 12 Late Models on Saturday night, but that’s nowhere near the average turnout for the season.  Just a month ago, close to 25 Late Models took to the track for the $1,000 bounty on Ryan Hall.  Weeks before that saw 15 to 20 guys show up week in and week out.  Ron Barfield and his staff have things figured out and I’m sure we’ll see more guys give Dillon a try as the season comes to a close across the southeast.

Dillon Motor Speedway takes the week of this weekend and returns on August 24th with the PASS Pro Late Models.  Also racing that night will be the CCS Modifieds and Dillon’s local Late Models.  Admission is just $12 for Adults with racing starting at 8 PM.
