Payton Ryan avenged last week’s misfortunes in the Late Model Stock Car division and Limited Late Model racer Zach Bruenger snapped a winless streak dating back to 2012 at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Ryan’s victory came one week after dropping out of the event when he was penalized for an incident with reigning track champion Josh Berry.  Ryan’s win is his fourth career Late Model Stock Car victory and comes early enough in the season to give him momentum for the year ahead.

“The car was awesome last night,” Ryan said.  “FatHeat Racing did a great job preparing this piece to get a little redemption from last weekend.  Matt [Piercy] was fast and had a strong car.  But I saw my opportunity with 15 to go and took it.  I can’t wait to kick off the CARS Tour season March 28th now.”

Ryan will be competing in the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) Late Model Stock Tour season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park on March 28th.

Matt Piercy finished second to Ryan while Dexter Canipe, Jr., Ashley Huffman, Landon Huffman, Shane Lee, Dylon Wilson, Dylan Smith and Natalie Decker rounded out the field.

Zach Bruenger scored the victory in the Limited Late Model feature over Travis Byrd, Charlie Watson, Jeremey Pelfrey and Ace Speedway regular Dylan Ward.  For Zach Bruenger and his ‘No Talent Motorsports’ race team, the victory was his first dating back to July 21, 2012.
