Series PR Report

Newport, TN(June 16, 2011) — The 2011 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model season has been one of the most-competitive seasons to date. In the seven previous 2011 races, seven different racers entered victory lane to take top honors at seven different tracks. On Saturday, June 18th, the eighth race of the season takes place at Newport Speedway (TN), where a few drivers will try to be the first repeat winner of the season in the “Daniel Boone Classic 125” while the rest of the racers will try to become the eighth-different winner of the year.

The Daniel Boone Classic at Newport Speedway has been a fixture in PASS South competition since 2008 when Jay Fogleman drove his car to the victory. In 2009, Fogleman once again took top honors with Ryan Blaney earning the 2010 win. Both drivers have earned victories during the 2011 season (Fogleman at Anderson Motor Speedway and Blaney at Dillon Motor Speedway), and both are entered into the Daniel Boone Classic looking to repeat as former event winners and repeat winners in 2011.

The two former winners of the event are also battling for the top spot in the PASS South points championship. Blaney was on top of the charts earlier this season, but Fogleman currently is the points leader by 14 points over Blaney. Preston Peltier sits third, just two points behind Blaney, with Andy Loden and Heath Hindman in fourth and fifth. Steven Legendre, Justin Wakefield, Jody Lavender, Jimmy Weller and Gray Gaulding round out the top 10.

As it is in every race in PASS South Super Late Model competition, all 125 laps in the event will be green flag laps, and all restarts will be double file, lending to an exciting Saturday night of racing action at Newport Speedway.

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South “Daniel Boone Classic 125” at Newport Speedway in Newport, Tennessee, will take place on Saturday, June 18th. Gates open at 2 PM with time trials at 6 PM. Racing begins at 7:30 PM. Adult tickets are just $20 with kids ages 12 – 17 $10, and ages 6 – 11 just $5. Legends, Front Wheel Drives and Mod 4s will also be in competition.
