Barry Beggarly emerged as the winner of a wild 75 lap late model race at Orange County Speedway on Saturday night after a bizarre series of events took away cars at the front of the field.

Chris Denny won the pole and was leading a tight four car pack, which also included Craig Moore, Terry Dease and Josh Oakley, before the four got together in a turn two crash just past the midway point. Oakley managed to escape without major damage and took the lead.

After the caution, Thomas Scott challenged Oakley for the lead but was stymied by a ruling where track officials deemed he jumped the restart.  Before the black flag could be administered however, Scott broke loose in turn two and took Oakley into the turn two wall. Oakley’s night was over and Beggarly inherited the lead.

“This one was a gift,” stated Beggarly after the triumph. “I hope we can get the car to where we can get up there and race with the front guys.”

Chuck Lawson recovered from a couple of spins to finish second with Donnie Puryear Jr.third.

Justin Newlin edged Layne Riggs by inches to take the win in the 35 lap Limited Sportsman event. Boo Boo Dalton was third .
