Team Press Release

Mike Norman will compete in his sophomore season for Gene Pack Motorsports in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Norman will be driving Gene Pack’s former Bowman Gray Stadium Car that saw a few dates in 2011 with Lee Jeffreys driving and one event where Pack’s grandson and 2010 Bowman Gray Stadium Modified Rookie of the Year, Austin Pack drove.

In 2010 Norman was the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Rookie of the Year runner-up to winner Greg Butcher, finishing 14th in driver points. He also drove a partial schedule at Bowman Gray Stadium in the Modified Division while driving a car owned, prepared and maintained by Myers Brothers Racing (Burt and Jason Myers, owner Pam Myers).

About the change, Norman says “Running a Myers’ Racing prepared car was a dream come true, and an experience I will always treasure. I hope the Myers’ family nothing but good luck and more championships in the future, they are, still and will always be considered friends.”

In 2011 Norman will run for points on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, as well as, a few spot dates at Bowman Gray Stadium. He will maintain his familiar #12 and will bring his track crew and crew chief Jason Hill with him to the races, while the preparation and maintanence of the car will be performed by Grady Jeffreys and his Shady Grady Racing team. Mike Norman brings with him his sponsors: Aero 8, DMC Auto Exchange, Lewisville Motor Company and Combs Produce

With the addition of Mike Norman, Gene Pack Motorsports will field 3 modifieds in 2011. #12 of Mike Norman and #31 of Gene Pack will both run fulltime on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, while the #81 of Austin Pack will run spot dates with the Tour, as well as, spot dates at Bowman Gray Stadium.
