CHARLOTTE, NC :: NASCAR announced on Wednesday the schedules for both the Whelen Modified Tour and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour, with both divisions welcoming new events for the series 2015 season.

The upcoming campaign will be the 30th in the history of the storied “northern” tour and features 14 points races across six tracks and the return of the All-Star Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Southern Tour will include 11 point races across seven southeastern short tracks.

As has become tradition, the annual August event at Bristol Motor Speedway will be a championship race for both divisions.

The 2015 schedules feature a new event of sorts for each tour. Thompson Speedway will host the northern tour for an early summer event, under the lights on June 10, while the Southern Modified Tour will make its debut at historic Hickory Motor Speedway on Oct. 3.

“The combination of new and traditional events, and national series companion weekends are sure to provide NASCAR modified fans with the wheel-to-wheel action they’ve come to know and love once again in 2015,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president for regional and touring series. “We are very excited that historic Hickory Motor Speedway will showcase the Whelen Southern Modified Tour for the first time and that Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park has returned its popular June date to the schedule.”

Doug Coby and Andy Seuss are the defending champions of the northern tour and Southern Tour respectively with both titilists expected to return to defend their crown.

Race22.com will expand its coverage of the Whelen Modified Tour in 2015 with sporadic supplemental coverage of the Southern Tour when available. The complete schedules for both tours can be viewed below:
