Copper Hill, VA(January 17, 2013) — There’s always some moving and shaking during the off season in Late Model Stock Car racing and this year is no different as some drivers have been making moves to better their performance.

Jonathan Smith raced at Motor Mile Speedway in the Late Model Stock Car division for Chassis Xperts of Rocky Mount, VA but will have a new home and new home track in 2013.  His seat however is already filled as former Limited Late Model winner at Motor Mile Speedway; Kyle Dudley will take the reins in 2013.  Dudley is expected to compete in the complete schedule of 13 races at Motor Mile as well as races at other tracks throughout the region.

Smith will move to Ace Speedway for the 2013 season as he competes in a car owned by multi-time track champion, Rodney Cook.  Cook has fielded cars at Ace for drivers such as 2012 South Boston Speedway champion Matt Bowling and Australian Michael Lia among others.  Smith will compete in a minimum of six races during the 2013 season with possibly more depending on the tracks schedule, whenever it’s released.

Both drivers enjoyed limited success on the track during the 2012 season with Smith competing full time in Late Models and becoming a top ten competitor quickly.  Dudley who had won a race in the Limited division in 2011 at Motor Mile and many races at Franklin County Speedway went winless at Motor Mile and won in his only Franklin County start in 2012.

Both are hoping that their off season moves will bring them more success in the coming season.  Smith will be looking to learn a new race track and competitors while Dudley will be learning new competitors and getting used to the faster cars.  Certainly this is just the first of several off season moves that will see new faces in new places and we’ll bring you details on all the drivers and their new teams.
