CALLAWAY, VA :: Franklin County Speedway is one of the longest continually running short tracks in America with much of that time coming under the same ownership and management.  In 2013, that will change as Moonshine Capital Promotions, Inc. will take the reins for the 44th season of action.

Moonshine Capital Promotions, Inc. will operate the 3/8 mile asphalt short track for the 2013 season effective immediately.  The first race originally slated for April 20th under former management has now been moved to Saturday, May 11th with a full schedule of racing events to be announced in the coming days.

Moonshine Capital Promotions, Inc. will go forward with an open practice on Saturday, April 20th to allow drivers time to get some more laps before the season opening event.  You can also meet with the new promoter, Langley Austin.  Austin, who many of you know as the owner of RACE22.com, will be taking the reins and trying to rebuild the “Good Ole Days” at Franklin County Speedway.

“I’m excited to get a chance to lead that track,” said Austin.  “I grew up there and learned what racing was there in the late 1980’s and 1990’s.  I saw the magic that could take place there and I know we can rekindle some of that this season.”

All divisions that were on the schedule for this season under previous management will remain on the schedule for this season.  The Late Model Stock Cars will compete under the NASCAR rulebook and all other divisions’ rules should remain untouched.  A full schedule will be released in the coming days but track will work not to schedule races over other tracks in the area.

“I think it’s important to work with the other tracks in the area for the better of the sport itself and we’re going to do all we can to stay off their dates.  “We will open the season on May 11th and we’ll have our second race on Memorial Day Monday May 27th with a full schedule to be released next week.”
