KINSTON, NC :: Haley Moody will be competing in Saturday’s 75-lap Halloween Spooktacular at Southern National Motorsports Park.  The race will be her first race since winning the Limited Late Model championship at Southern National back in September.

The championship and her three wins on the season give the 19-year-old confidence that she can compete against what should be some of the toughest competition she’s faced in her short racing career – though her expectations are the same as they are every time she races, to win the race.

“We have to go in with confidence, not cockiness,” Moody said.  “We will be racing with some good competition.  We are really going to try to win.  There is going to be some tough competition there like Andrew [Grady], Rusty [Daniels], and Clay [Jones], but I think I am capable of winning Saturday.”

Saturday’s race presents a unique challenge to the Limited Late Model competitors.  Ordinarily, they race with two sticker tires and two scuff tires.  On Saturday, they will run four scuff tires.  Having raced on four scuffs before, she knows it’s going to change the characteristics of the car and how she approaches the race.

“Last season, we ran with four scuff tires so we should be okay even though I don’t like it. Nobody does. We will have to do some things different since we are used to two new and two scuffs.”

Moody says a win on Saturday would mean a lot.

“It would mean a lot to win since it is a big race. Every win means so much to me, especially just coming out of winning the championship.”

Saturday’s race also presents an opportunity for Moody to progress and mature even more as driver, something she feels she’s done all season.

“I think I have improved a lot throughout this year.  This is my first full season in a Limited Late Model and I feel like I have shown people I am capable of winning races and can win.”

Moody enters the race with three wins on the 2014 season, all coming at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina.  The green flag will drop on Saturday’s race at 3pm EST.
