This season has been one of more travel and getting to new tracks for Mini Tyrrell but this weekend with an off week the Timmy Tyrrell Racing team has decided to head back to their home track.

Shenandoah Speedway has been Mini’s home track since he first jumped behind the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car in 2014. Since then he’s won two track championships in 2016 and 2017 and was Rookie of the Year in 2016.

With Shenandoah having a race on the schedule this weekend and Mini not having another race on the schedule, the team decided to head back home. Going home for Mini means a lot of things, one of which is to see all the fans and friends he made in the last three seasons of racing on the 3/8 mile track.

“It’s always great to get a chance to race at Shenandoah,” said Mini. “That’s truly my home track and the first track to give me a chance when no one knew what to expect of a nine-year-old in a Late Model. I’m hoping we can go there and pick up where we left off and win this weekend. We’ve been so close to a win at Carteret and had a great run at Tri-County before getting wrecked, so we want to get back to victory lane.”

Mini won’t have an easy road to victory despite heading back to familiar territory. The competition at Shenandoah can be tough on any given week depending on who’s running.

“Brian Purdham will be tough to beat,” commented Mini. “He’s a local guy who has his car really dialed in there. Plus there are some other local guys who have been getting better and new guys who have been running really good this season. I’m looking forward to racing against all of them.”

Mini will take the momentum from his recent string of three second-place finishes at Carteret County Speedway and his knowledge of Shenandoah Speedway and hopefully parlay it into a win.
