In a repeat of the CARS Tour’s inaugural event at Southern National Motorsports Park in March, Cole Timm and Deac McCaskill will lead their respective fields to the green flag for tonight’s Don’t Tread On Me 250 at the Lucama, North Carolina speedway.

Four-time Southern National track champion Deac McCaskill’s time of 15.747 seconds paced the CARS Late Model Stock Tour qualifying session, edging inaugural race winner Todd Gilliland by five-hundredths of a second. On that evening in March, Gilliland won a late-race battle with McCaskill to claim the victory after McCaskill had led 148 of the race’s 150 laps.

Rounding out the top five in Late Model Stock qualifying were Tyler Ankrum, Jamey Caudill, and Myatt Snider.

Cole Timm, the points leader in the CARS Super Late Model Tour, followed up his pole and win in March with another fast time in qualifying tonight. His lap of 15.206 seconds knocked Harrison Burton off the pole, who had turned a 15.290. Timm’s primary competition in that inaugural event, Orange County winner Christopher Bell, will start third, followed by Quin Houff and Zane Smith.

With 22 Late Model Stocks and 27 Super Late Models, there will be no Last Chance Qualifiers for the evening’s Don’t Tread On Me 250, the fourth round of the CARS Tour. Driver introductions are scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm, with the 125-lap Late Model Stock race starting at 7:30 and the 125-lap Super Late Model event to follow.
