SUMMERFIELD, NC :: 2013 South Boston Speedway Rookie of the Year Bobby McCarty is hoping for even more success in 2014.  Last season, McCarty had 10 top-five finishes en route to a third place finish in the championship points standings.  This year, he feels confident he can win races.

“We learned a lot last year,” McCarty said.  ”I learned a lot racing with these guys.  Hopefully we can put some stuff together.  We’ve basically got a brand new car.  The first few races will be a learning curve so we’ll do what we can and go from there but I feel like we should be able to get us a win this year.”

McCarty, who is looking for sponsorship to run the complete 2014 season, only plans to run a partial schedule at South Boston as of now.

“We’re only looking at a partial season due to sponsorship deals.  Right now, we’re just looking to run up front.  We’re not focused on points.  We just want to run as well as we can and contend for wins.”

McCarty competed at South Boston Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park and Martinsville Speedway in 2013.  In 2012, McCarty scored a Limited Late Model championship at South Boston Speedway.

McCarty will be competing in the season opening race at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, March 15th.  That race will consist of two twin 100-lap Late Model Stock Car features.
