TROY, NC :: Tommy Lemons, Jr. scored his first victory at Motor Mile Speedway since 2012 on Saturday night.  Lemons’ victory came in the second twin Late Model race when he used the outside lane to make the pass for the win.

Lemons’ day started off with a third place qualifying effort.  He would go on to start the first of two races in third where he would go on to finish.  After the top six cars were inverted, Lemons started the second 75-lap race in the fourth position.  Lemons worked his way to the lead on the ninth lap of the race.  After a lap 23 caution, Lemons used the outside lane to again take the lead and went on to lead every lap from there on out en route to the victory, his third win of the year.

“It’s been a while since we’ve been to victory lane here,” Lemons said.  “It feels great to finally be back.  We didn’t finish where we wanted in the first race.  Third is not where I want to be so we made some adjustments after that first race.  When the car was good on the high side on the restarts, I knew we had a shot at winning it.”

Lemons’ victory came one week after inheriting the victory at Southern National Motorsports Park.  To date, Lemons has 10 top-five finishes and 13th top-10 finishes.  Lemons has wins on the season at Motor Mile Speedway and Southern National Motorsports Park.

Tommy Lemons, Jr. will be back in action at Southern National Motorsports Park for twin Late Model races on Saturday night, June 7th.
