CHRISTIANSBURG, VA :: Derrick Lancaster recorded a third place finish in one of two twin Late Model races at Kingsport Speedway on Friday night.  The podium finish effort was his second podium finish effort of the season at Kingsport Speedway.

Derrick Lancaster started the first of two races in the 14th position and ended up finishing 12th.  He started the second race in 12th and managed to avoid multiple incidents to drive his way through the field.  Lancaster got up to second before losing the position to another competitor.

“We were awful in the first race,” said Lancaster.  “We were real free.  We just kind of threw something at it there in the second race.  I told the guys I’m tired of doing what we’re doing so throw something at it, change everything.  It took off but it was still a little free.  If we had made some changes and done more of what we did, we might have had something for them.  I didn’t want to interfere with the championship battle.”

Lancaster will not head to Motor Mile Speedway for the remainder of that track’s season.

“I’m so happy for this crew,” remarked Lancaster.  “Now we’ll go to Motor Mile and carry this momentum up there.”

Lancaster will be back in action on Friday night, August 30th in twin Late Model races at Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia.
