PINEY FLATS, TN :: Hayden Woods finished ninth in one of two twin races at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday night.  Woods also recorded a 12th place finish in the first of the two races after starting in 16th.

Woods worked his way up through the field in the first race while combating an ill-handling car.  He started the second race in 12th, which is where he finished in the first race, and dodged several accidents to get inside the top-10.

“We had a great run going for the wreckfest that was the second race,” said Woods.  “We stayed patient and got through three or four wrecks and avoided them.  It all came down to starting positions.  On the cone restart, we chose the outside and stayed there the last two laps.  That’s all we could do.

“The car was really hooked up.  We got tight in the first race and loosened it up for the second race and it was hooking up towards the end.  It really came on toward the end.  We had a fast car; we just couldn’t do anything with them on the last lap.”

Woods’ ninth place finish was his seventh top-10 finish of the 2013 season.  Woods’ next race will be on Saturday, June 8th at Lonesome Pine Raceway.
