FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Winston-Salem, NC(April 5, 2012) — With a third place finish in his first start of the season at Hickory Motor Speedway in a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series sanctioned race and a sixth place effort one week later in the UARA-STARS Series season opener, 14 year-old, Dillon Bassett is eager to get back on track this weekend.

With three weeks off from the last race for the young driver, Dillon has been filling his time in between races with basketball games for Union Grove Christian School, but he’s a racer and he’s been itching to get back behind the wheel. Unlike his older brother and teammate, Ronnie Bassett, Jr., Dillon doesn’t have any experience on the 4/10 mile South Carolina speedplant, but he knows that his team will have him as prepared as possible for his first outing.

“We tested down there before the season opener at Hickory,” said Dillon. “That was my first laps on the track in a Late Model car, but my team had the car good from the time we unloaded. As the day went on, they got the car better and better and hopefully when we unload on Friday, we’ll be able to tweak the car and be right there where we need to be.”

With his solid qualifying effort and a sixth place finish at Hickory Motor Speedway in race number one of the UARA-STARS Series, Dillon’s confidence is up and he is hoping he can carry the momentum into Dillon, SC.

“Hickory was a big confidence boost for this team,” continued Dillon. “When we unloaded for the NASCAR race the week before, I couldn’t seem to figure out the track and qualified dead last. Then in the race, I followed a fast car and learned the way to get around that place and it showed up the next week in the UARA race too. I hope that we can take what we learned at Hickory and apply that to Dillon this weekend and get a run that this team deserves after all their hard work.”

Dillon and his teammate and brother, Ronnie Bassett, Jr. and the rest of the UARA-STARS Series, Late Model Stock Car tour will roll into Dillon Motor Speedway on Friday, April 6th for Testing from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Then on Saturday, the UARA will take center stage in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina for the first UARA-STARS Series race in the area in over a year.

If you’re going to be in the area, be sure to come on out to Dillon Motor Speedway for what is sure to be one of the best races of the season on the 4/10 mile track, which starts at 8:00pm. If you can’t make it out to the track, you can still watch the race live on the internet at http://www.MotorsportsBroadcasting.com/ on pay-per-view.
